Sunmi Han
Marked by poetic lyricism in solo performance and vibrant imagination in chamber music collaborations, pianist Sunmi Han has appeared throughout Europe, North America, and Asia in venues including Munich's Herkulessaal, Prague's Smetana Hall, Steinway Hall in New York and Hamburg, Kumho Art Hall, Sejong Art Center, and Ilshin Art Hall. As a concerto soloist, she has performed with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, Kharkiv Philharmonic Orchestra, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sungnam Philharmonic Orchestra, appearing in major concert halls across Europe and Asia.A dedicated recitalist, Han has been featured at the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series, Rite of Spring Music Festival, Klassik Musikabend München, and the Tel Aviv KAN KOL HAMUSICA Radio Concert Series, in addition to numerous concert series and festivals throughout the United States, Europe, and South Korea. A devoted chamber musician, Han has collaborated with distinguished artists including Arnaud Sussmann, Jörg Widmann, Colin Carr, Dénes Várjon, Matthew Lipman, Nicholas Mann, Alan Kay, Pauline Sachse, Seth Knopp, Jennifer Frautschi, Coleman Itzkoff, and members of the Emerson String Quartet. Her chamber music appearances have included performances with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Yellow Barn Music Festival, Blairsville Chamber Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival and School. Particularly active as a collaborative artist, she has performed in a wide variety of chamber music settings and has worked closely with leading instrumentalists, composers, and ensembles. Han participated in the European premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Christopher Rouse's Iscariot as guest artist with members of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Joshua Weilerstein. An alumna of The Juilliard School, Han also holds degrees from Tel Aviv University and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, where she completed both the Master of Music and Meisterklasse degrees with highest honors. She is currently completing the Doctor of Musical Artsdegree at Stony Brook University, where she serves as a Chamber Music Coach and Teaching Assistant in the Piano Department.
